Inside Out (2015)

My Review

“Inside Out” is the story of what goes on in the thought processes of an eleven-year-old girl with five of her emotions – Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust – from a command center in her mind. Director Pete Doctor did an excellent job on this animated coming-of-age movie, which he co-wrote with Meg LaFauve and Josh Cooley. Doctor instilled the project with top rate production values, colorful animation (especially vivid in 3-D), innovative storyline, and wonderful voice cast performances.

The voice performers include Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyliss Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Bill Hader as Fear, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Richard Kind, Diane Lane, Kyle McLachlan, Paula Poundstone, Bobby Moynihan, Frank Oz, John Ratzenberger, Pete Doctor, and Rashida Jones. “Inside Out” was the seventh highest grossing film of 2015 for Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Studios, and The Walt Disney Company. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay. “Inside Out 2” was released in 2024.
