Isle of Dogs (2018)

My Review

“Isle of Dogs” is a stop-motion animated film set in a Japanese city where the mayor banishes all dogs to “Trash Island” due to a canine flu outbreak. A 12-year-old boy steals an airplane to rescue his dog Spots. The unusual drama proceeds from there, creatively directed by Wes Anderson, who also wrote the screenplay and developed the story. It was nominated for two Academy Awards including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score (Alexandre Desplat).

The voice cast includes Koyu Rankin, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Liev Schreiber, Bill Murray, Bob Balaban, Jeff Goldblum, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Ken Watanabe, Frances McDormand, F. Murray Abraham, Fisher Stevens, Yoko Ono, Harvey Keitel, Angelica Huston, Roman Coppola, and Courtney B. Vance as The Narrator. The watchable “Isle of Dogs” was a financial success for producer Wes Anderson, 20th Century Fox Animation, Scott Rudin Productions, and Fox Searchlight Pictures.
