My Review

“Just Getting Started” is a comedy crime drama movie about a former lawyer for the mob and a retired FBI agent who must put aside their decades-long feud when they find themselves living in the same Palm Springs retirement community, and the mafia comes to kill them both! Director-screenwriter Ron Shelton (“Bull Durham” 1988) struggles to get laughs out of the terrible script he wrote. This awful movie would not even qualify as a sitcom pilot on cable or regular television.

The cast includes Morgan Freeman as the ex-defense attorney, Tommy Lee Jones, as the ex-FBI guy, Rene Russo, Joe Pantoliano, Elizabeth Ashley, George Wallace, Jane Seymour, Johnny Mathis, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Graham Beckel, and Glenne Headley. The unwatchable “Just Getting Started” was a box office bomb for Entertainment One, Gerber Pictures, and Broad Green Pictures. It was filmed in Palm Springs, California.
