Kiss and Make-Up (1934)

My Review

Cary Grant plays a cosmetic surgeon who becomes romantically involved with two of his female patients. Director Harlan Thompson put together a humorous little picture which was released just after the adoption of the Motion Picture Production Code on July 1, 1934, so there is not too much risque business going on. Thompson and George Marian Jr. and Jane Hinton penned the squeaky-clean but funny screenplay.

The cast includes Cary Grant as the good doctor, Helen Mack and Genevieve Tobin as two of his favorite patients, Edward Everett Horton, Lucien Littlefield, Mona Maris, and Ann Sheridan as a beautician. Also appearing were the WAMPAS baby stars, promising young actresses selected for a major Hollywood publicity campaign. The watchable but not outstanding “Kiss and Make-Up” was a modest hit at the Depression Era box office for Paramount Pictures. It was filmed at the Paramount studios in Hollywood.
