Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018)

My Review

Thomas leads his group on their final mission in “Maze Runner: The Death Cure.” They must break into the heavily guarded Last City to rescue their friend Minho. Wes Ball (“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” 2024) tightly directed this second sequel from a lucid screenplay by T. S. Nowlin, adapted from the 2011 novel of the same name by James Dashner. Ball directed the first two films (“The Maze Runner” 2014 and “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” 2015). It was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Cape Town, South Africa.

The stars of the show include Dylan O’Brien as Thomas, Kaya Scodelario as Teresa, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt, Dexter Darden as Frypan, Ki Hong Lee as Minho, Patricia Clarkson as the heavy of the piece, Giancarlo Esposito as a survivor group leader, and Aiden Gillen, Walton Goggins, Dylan Smith, and Katherine McNamara as hangers-on. “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” was a big hit at the box office for The Gotham Group, Temple Hill Entertainment, Oddball Entertainment, and 20th Century Fox.
