Mr. Church (2016)

My Review

Eddie Murphy took on a different kind of role in a drama film called “Mr. Church.” He delivered a layered performance as a father figure and friend to three generations of women over a period of time. This is definitely a side of Murphy we rarely see.

Co-stars include Natascha McElhone, Britt Robertson, Mckenna Grace, Lucy Fry, Christian Madsen, and Thom Barry. Director Bruce Beresford (“Driving Miss Daisey” 1989) and screenwriter Susan McMartin put together this watchable movie with exceptional professionalism. “Mr. Church” was released on streaming services from Voltage Pictures, Cinelou Films, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed entirely in Los Angeles.
