My Review

“Muppets from Space” is a science fiction comedy film where Gonzo has nightmares about being denied entry into Noah’s Ark, and begins to realizes his family were aliens from outer space. After he is kidnapped by a government agent, Kermit the Frog and the gang stage a daring rescue. Director Tim Hill and screenwriters Jerry Juhl, Joseph Mazzarino, and Ken Kaufman create another amusing romp for the Muppets, making for good escapist entertainment for the entire family.

The Muppets cast includes Steve Whitmire as Kermit, Dave Goetz as Gonzo, Frank Oz as Miss Piggy, John Henson, Brian Henson, Bill Barretta, Jerry Nelson, and Peter Linz. Celebrity cast includes Jeffrey Tambor, Pat Hingle, Andie MacDowell, Rob Schneider, Gary Owens, F. Murray Abraham, Hulk Hogan, David Arquette, David Liota, Kathy Griffin, and Katy Holmes. The watchable “Muppets from Space” was a flop at the box office for Jim Henson Pictures, Columbia Pictures, and Sony Pictures Releasing.

“Muppets from Space” was the sixth theatrical film featuring the Muppets, and the last one before Jim Henson Pictures was purchased by The Walt Disney Company in 2004. The eight theatrically released Muppet films came out in 1979, 1981, 1984, 1992, 1996, 1999, 2011, and 2014. Some direct-to-video films were released in 2002 and 2005.
