One Battle After Another (2025)

My Review

The Best Picture of 2025 is…..”One Battle After Another.” The story follows a former revolutionary who is forced back into his old combative ways after he is pursued by a corrupt military officer. Director-screenwriter Paul Thomas Anderson (“Magnolia” 1999) put together quite an absorbing film with action-packed chase scenes amid a backdrop of political drama.

The stars of the show are Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Chase Infiniti, Teyana Taylor, Tony Goldwyn, Kevin Tighe, Jim Downey, Wood Harris, and Jenna Malone. The watchable “One Battle After Another” was a box office disappointment for Ghoulardi Film Company and Warner Bros. Pictures.

It was nominated for thirteen Academy Awards, winning six: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Penn), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Casting, and Best Film Editing. Non-winners include Best Actor (DiCaprio), Best Supporting Actor (del Toro), Best Supporting Actress (Taylor), Best Cinematography (Michael Bowman), Best Original Score (Jonny Greenwood), Best Production Design, and Best Sound.
