“Pete’s Dragon” is a fantasy film about an orphaned boy and his best friend, a large dragon, and the adventures and mis-adventures they get into. Director David Lowery, who co-wrote the screenplay with Toby Halbrooks, did a good job of remaking the 1977 film of the same name which starred Helen Reddy, Mickey Rooney, and Sean Marshall.
The cast includes Oakes Fegley as Pete, Oona Lawrence as Natalie, Bryce Dallas Howard, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Robert Redford, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. as the sheriff. “Pete’s Dragon” was a modest success at the box office for Whitaker Entertainment, Walt Disney Studios, and The Walt Disney Company. It was filmed in New Zealand.
