Pilot X: Murder in the Sky (1936)

My Review

“Pilot X: Murder in the Sky” is a murder mystery set in the aviation industry of the 1930’s. An unknown airplane pilot is shooting down planes, and officials are determined to catch him. They invite seven of the most likely suspects to a weekend retreat, knowing they must attend in order to avoid suspicion.

Director Elmer Clifton put together an engrossing crime drama which does rely heavily on stock footage of the airplane activity. The acceptable screenplay was written by Charles R. Condon and Bernard McConville. The cast includes Henry Hall as the airport manager, Lona Andre as the love interest, and John Carroll and Leon Ames as two of the pilots. “Pilot X: Murder in the Sky” is from independent film company Fanchon Royer Features, Inc., originally titled “Death in the Air.”
