My Review

“Polite Society” is a British marital arts comedy film about a British-Pakistani teenager who aspires to become a movie stuntwoman. She pursues her dream despite discouragement from family and friends. British director-screenwriter Nida Manzoor has put together a film with a good combination of comedy, drama, and martial arts action scenes. This is her feature film directorial debut, although she has a large resume of directing television programs including a couple of episodes of the iconic “Doctor Who.”

The cast includes Priya Kansara, Ritu Arya, Nimra Bucha, Seraphina Beh, Shobu Kapoor, Jeff Mirza, and Eunice Huthart. The sometimes heart-warming and often action-packed “Polite Society” from Working Title Films and Parkville Pictures has had limited success at the box office. It was filmed in London, UK.
