My Review

“Randy Rides Alone” is a Western drama where John Wayne plays a government agent who rides into a frontier town to meet a saloon owner only to find him and everyone else in the bar dead as a doornail. The heavy drama proceeds from there, well directed by Harry L. Fraser from a lucid screenplay by Lindsley Parsons.

The cast includes John Wayne as agent Randy Bowers, Alberta Vaughn as the saloon owner’s daughter, George Hayes as a local yokel, Earl Dwire as the sheriff, Yakima Canutt and Tommy Coates as henchmen, and Artie Ortego as the deputy sheriff. “Randy Rides Alone” was a low-budget, 53 minute black-and-white film modestly popular at the Depression Era box office for Lone Star Productions and Monogram Pictures.
