Revolutionary Road (2008)

My Review

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet deliver stunning performances as a 1950’s American suburban couple whose marriage is deteriorating in “Revolutionary Road.” Producer-director Sam Mendes (“American Beauty” 1999) crafted an intimate look into a couple with issues and their friends and family, from a marvelous screenplay by Justin Haythe. It was adapted from the 1961 novel of the same name by Richard Yates, with the set in 1950’s American suburbia.

Winslet and DiCaprio were reunited from 1997’s blockbuster hit “Titanic.” The supporting cast includes Kathy Bates (another “Titanic” alum), Michael Shannon, Kathryn Hahn, David Harbour, Dylan Baker, Zoe Kazan, Richard Easton, Jay O. Sanders, Max Baker, and Max Casella.

The watchable “Revolutionary Road” was successful in theatrical release for DreamWorks Pictures, Paramount Vantage, BBC Films, Neal Street Productions, Evamere Entertainment, and Paramount Pictures. It was nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Supporting Actor (Michael Shannon), Best Art Design, and Best Costume Design, and filmed on location in Connecticut.
