My Review

“Rocketman” is a biopic about the life and career of singer Elton John. Actor Taron Egerton turned in a good performance as the pop star, despite a sluggish storyline and weak direction by Dexter Fletcher (“Wild Bill” 2011) and screenwriter Lee Hall. It covered his childhood, rise to stardom, his struggles with addiction and achievement of sobriety.

Co-stars include Richard Madden, Bryce Dallas Howard, Gemma Jones, Jamie Bell, and Tate Donovan. “Rocketman” was a financial success at the box office for New Republic Pictures, Marv Films, Rocket Pictures, and Paramount Pictures. It was filmed in London, and received one Oscar win for Best Original Song (“I’m Gonna Love Me Again” Elton John, Bernie Taupin).
