My Review

“SAS: Red Notice” is an action-packed British thriller about criminals who hijack the Channel Tunnel train (Chunnel) and hold the passengers hostage under the English Channel. Director Magnus Martens ran a tight ship, with nary a dull moment in the 123 minutes of screen time. The screenplay by Laurence Malkin was adapted from the 2012 novel of the same name by Andy McNab.

The two principal actors are outstanding in their respective roles. Sam Heugham takes a break from his famous “Outlander” tele character Jamie Fraser to play the protagonist Tom Buckingham who is in charge of the rescue. Ruby Rose is positively diabolical as the antagonist who puts innocent lives in danger under the English Channel.

Co-stars include Andy Serkis, Tom Wilkinson, Noel Clarke, Hannah John-Kamen, Anne Reid, and Ray Panthaki as Prime Minister Atwood. This is Tom Wilkinson’s final film role in a motion picture career that began in 1976. The watchable “SAS: Red Notice” was a flop at the box office for Ingenious Media, Altitude Film Entertainment, and Sky Cinema. It was filmed in Budapest, Hungary.
