Shelter (2026)

My Review

“Shelter” is an action thriller film with Jason Statham playing a former MI6 assassin who is hiding out on a small island off of Scotland. He becomes detected, as does a teenage girl whose uncle brings him food every week. So both must go on the run to escape being killed by the powers that be. Focused direction by Ric Roman Waugh (“Kandahar” 2023) from an excellent screenplay by Ward Parry made this film with a plot and story we have seen before into a riveting and engrossing melodrama.

The cast includes Jason Statham as the lead performer, Bodhi Rae Breathnoch as his fellow fugitive, Naomi Ackie as the new head of MI6, Bill Nighy as the heavy of the piece & former MI6 director, Daniel Mays as tech ally of Jason, and Harriet Walter as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. “Shelter” broke even at the box office for producer Jason Statham, Punch Palace Productions, Cinemachine, Stampede Ventures, and Black Bear Pictures. This Jason Statham vehicle was filmed in Ireland, Scotland, England, and Spain.
