“Son of the South” is the story of a grandson of a Ku Klux Klan member who becomes a Civil Rights activist in 1960’s Alabama. Director-screenwriter Barry Alexander Brown put together an interesting story adapted from Bob Zellner’s 2011 autobiography “The Wrong Side of Murder Creek.”
The cast includes Lucas Till in the title role, with Lex Scott Davis, Lucy Hale, Julia Ormond, Brain Dennehy, Matt William Knowles, Jake Abel, Shamier Alexander, Ludi Lin, and Cedric the Entertainer as Ralph Abernathy. The watchable “Son of the South” was unsuccessful in theatrical release for Lucidity Entertainment, SSS Film Capital, and Vertical Entertainment. It was filmed in Montgomery, Alabama.
