Song of the Thin Man (1947)

My Review

The popular “Thin Man” film series ended in 1947 with “Song of the Thin Man.” William Powell and Myrna Loy play the crime-solving husband and wife team Nick and Nora Charles with their usual witty bantering. The screenplay by James O’Hanlon, Harry Drake, and Dashiell Hammett lost some of their luster from previous films, but with capable direction by Edward Buzzell still features the usual interesting murder mystery, this time set in the world of nightclub musicians.

The cast includes Keenan Wynn, Jayne Meadows, and Dean Stockwell who would all go on to prominent show business careers. Other co-stars include Leon Ames, Gloria Grahame, Patricia Morrison, Phillip Reed, Ralph Morgan, Bess Flowers, and Marie Windsor. The watchable “Song of the Thin Man” was popular at the box office for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and was filmed at the MGM Studios in Culver City, California.
