Soul on Fire (2025)

My Review

“Soul on Fire” is a faith-based biographical drama telling the true story of a 9-year-old boy who survived burns which covered his entire body. Director Sean McNamara (“Soul Surfer” 2011) put together a high quality film with good acting and a well-organized storyline and plot from the screenplay by Gregory Poirier. It was adapted from John O’Leary’s 2016 autobiography “On Fire, The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life.”

The cast includes Joel Courtney as John O’Leary, John Corbett and Stephanie Szostak as his parents, DeVon Franklin as his therapist, William H. Macy as Jack Buck of the St. Louis Cardinals, as well as James McCracken, Natalie Buck, and Masey McLain. The watchable “Soul on Fire” was modestly popular at the box office for Affirm Films and Sony Pictures Releasing. It was filmed in and around St. Louis, Missouri.
