“Spider-Man: No Way Home” tells the story of Peter Parker asking Dr. Stephen Strange to use his magic to make his identity as Spider-Man secret again after it was revealed to the world at the end of “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019). When the Dr. Strange’s spell goes wrong, the multiverse is broken open and visitors from alternate realities are brought into Peter’s universe. The heavy drama proceeds from there, well directed by Jon Watts (“Spider-Man: Homecoming” 2017) from an excellent screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Tom Holland is perfect in his third film as Peter Parker/Spiderman, with co-stars Zendaya as his girlfriend, Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Jamie Foxx as Electro, William Dafoe as Green Goblin, Alfred Molina as Dr. Octopus, Benedict Wong as Wong, Rhys Ifans as Lizard, Thomas Haden Church as Sandman, Tom Hardy as Venom, Tony Revolori as Flash, Jacob Batalon as the best friend, J. K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and Tobey McGuire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
The very watchable “Spider-Man: No Way Home” was the highest grossing film of 2021 for producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios, Pascal Pictures, and Sony Pictures Releasing. It was the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, filmed in New York City, New York, and received one Oscar nod for Best Visual Effects. Film number four in this series will be released in July, 2026, called “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” once again featuring Tom Holland in the title role.
