Stage Fright (1950)

My Review

Alfred Hitchcock’s fingerprints are all over “Stage Fright,” a murder mystery set in the London theater district. The film was shot in England, with screenwriters Whitfield Cook, Alma Reville (Mrs. Hitchcock) and James Bridie providing excellent dialogue.

The talented cast includes Jane Wyman, Marlene Dietrich, Michael Wilding, Richard Todd, Alastair Sim, Sybil Thorndike, Kay Walsh, and Patricia Hitchcock (director’s daughter) in her film debut. Hitch’s cameo came 39 minutes into the film as a man on the street turning to look at Jane Wyman. The watchable “Stage Fright” was a modest success at the box office for producer Alfred Hitchcock, Transatlantic Pictures, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
