My Review

“Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker” brings the “Star Wars” saga to an astonishing conclusion as the Resistance battles the First Order with the return of Emperor Palpatine – He reveals that he is Rey’s grandfather, and wants her to come over to the dark side of the force. Watch and see what happens! Director J. J. Abrams (“Star Trek” 2009) wrapped everything up with good production values, memorable performances, and excellent writing. Abrams co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Terrio.

Carrie Fisher, who passed away in December, 2016, appears in this movie in unreleased footage from “The Force Awakens” (2015). Others include Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Adam Driver as Leia & Han’s son Ben Solo (formerly Kylo Ren), Daisy Ridley as Rey, Ian McDiarmid as her grandfather Emperor Palpatine, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Lee Towersey as R2-D2, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Lupita Nyongo as Maz Kanata, Keri Russell as Zorii Bliss, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, and Billie Lourd as Kaydel Ko Connix.

The watchable “Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker” was the seventh highest grossing film of 2019 for producers Kathy Kennedy and J. J. Abrams, Lucasfilm Ltd., Bad Robot Productions, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, and The Walt Disney Company. It was filmed in England and Jordan, and received three Oscar nods – Best Musical Score (John Williams), Best Sound Editing, and Best Visual Effects.

The Walt Disney Company had seven motion pictures in the top ten highest grossing films of 2019 – all making over one billion dollars each – “Avengers: Endgame,” “The Lion King,” “Frozen 2,” “Captain Marvel,” “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” “Toy Story 4,” and “Aladdin.” “Avengers: Endgame” made over two billion dollars.
