Stillwater (2021)

My Review

“Stillwater” is a crime drama about an Oklahoma man who travels to France to prove the innocence of his daughter, who is imprisoned because of a murder conviction. The story is loosely based on the real life experience of Amanda Knox. Director-screenwriter Tom McCarthy (“Spotlight” 2015) turn out an average run-of-the-mill film with average writing and average performances.

The cast features Matt Damon, Abigail Breslin, Camille Cotton, Deanna Dunagan, Anne Le Ny, and William Nadylam. The watchable “Stillwater” was a flop at the box office for DreamWorks Pictures, Participant Media, Anonymous Content, and Focus Features. It was filmed in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Marseille, France.
