Terminator Genisys (2015)

My Review

Just as human resistance leader John Connor is on the verge of defeating Skynet, they send a T-800 Terminator back to 1984 to kill his mother Sarah Connor in “Terminator Genisys.” In this fifth of the Terminator films, director Alan Taylor (“Thor: The Dark World” 2013) and screenwriters Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis reboot the entire series with an exciting storyline which still includes Arnold as the top dog.

The cast includes Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator (nicknamed Pops), Jason Clarke as John Connor, Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney, J. K. Simmons, Matt Smith, Courtney B. Vance, Dayo Okeniyi, Sandrine Holt, and Byung-Hun Lee as the T-1000. “Terminator Genisys” barely broke even at the box office due to high production costs and a hefty advertising budget for producer David Ellison, Skydance Productions, and Paramount Pictures. It was filmed in Louisiana and California. The “Terminator” films came out in 1984, 1991, 2003, and 2009. The next one is “Terminator: Dark Fate” (2019). We will see if Arnold keeps his promise when he said “I’ll be back.”
