“The Boy in the Woods” is a true story of a ten-year-old Jewish boy left to fend for himself in the woods of Poland during World War II, in an attempt to flee Nazi persecution. Director-screenwriter Rebecca Snow put forth an excellent drama adaptation from Maxwell Smart’s 2022 autobiography “The Boy in the Woods: A True Story of Survival During the Second World War.”

Child actor Jett Klyne delivered an engrossing performance as Maxwell; he did carry this film. Co-stars include Richard Armitage, Christopher Heyerdahl, Ari Millen, Masa Lizdek, Berkley Silverman, and Joshua Peace as the police sergeant. The watchable biopic “The Boy in the Woods” is an independent film with limited theatrical release from Lumanity Productions, JoBro Productions, Undisputed Pictures, and Photon Films. It was filmed in North Bay, Ontario, Canada.
