“The Garfield Movie” is an animated comedy film based on the comic strip “Garfield” invented by Jim Davis. The story is about Garfield unexpectedly meeting his long-lost father, a disheveled street cat. He is then forced to leave his sedentary lifestyle and become involved in a high-stakes heist. The comedy and drama proceeds from there. Good direction by Mark Dindal (“The Emperor’s New Groove” 2000) did all the right moves at the helm of this project to make it a good view for children and kids of all ages.
The voice cast is headed by Chris Pratt as Garfield and Samuel L. Jackson as Vic, Garfield’s estranged biological father. Co-stars include Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Cecily Strong, Snoop Dogg, Jeff Foxworthy, Eugenia Caruso, Angus Cloud, Janelle James, Bowen Yang, Brett Goldstein, Harvey Guillen, and Nicholas Hoult. The watchable “The Garfield Movie” was a huge box office sensation for Columbia Pictures, Alcon Entertainment, DNEG Animation, Prime Focus, Wayfarer Studios, One Cool Films, Stage 6 Films, John Cohen Productions, Andrews McNeel Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Releasing.
