The Impossible (2012)

My Review

“The Impossible” is the true story of a family attempting to survive in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami in Thailand. The Spanish team of director J. A. Bayona and screenwriter Sergio G. Sanchez put together this riveting drama, with the story developed by Maria Belon, based on the experiences of her and her family.

The cast employed to portray the Spanish Belon’s is actually from the United Kingdom. Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor play Maria and Henry Bennett. Their three sons are portrayed by Tom Holland, Samuel Joslin, and Oaklee Pendergast. This is Holland’s motion picture debut; he later went on to superstardom as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in six Marvel Studios films starting in 2016. Co-stars include Geraldine Chaplin, Marta Etura, and Sonke Mohring.

There was not a dull moment in the two hour running time of the watchable motion picture “The Impossible,” and was a big hit at the box office for Apaches Entertainment, Telecinco Cinema, and Warner Bros. Productions. It was filmed in Thailand and Spain.
