My Review

“The Legend of Billie Jean” is an action film about a Texas teenager who accidentally shots a millionaire bully, then goes on the run all over the state with her brother, becoming a media icon as they are pursued by law enforcement and the paparazzi. Mediocre direction by Matthew Robbins (“Corvette Summer” 1978) from an uneven screenplay by Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal keep this project from becoming a great movie.

The cast is headed by Helen Slater and Christian Slater (no relation), in his movie debut at the age of 16. As we all know, he has gone on to a very successful show business career. Co-stars include Peter Coyote, Dean Stockwell, Keith Gordon, Richard Bradford, Martha Gehman, Barry Tubb, and Yeardley Smith as Putter Jacks.

The laborious, boring, and unwatchable “The Legend of Billie Jean” was a box office bomb for Delphi III Productions, The Guber-Peters Company, and Tri-Star Pictures. It was filmed in and around Corpus Christi, Texas,
