The Leisure Seeker (2017)

My Review

“The Leisure Seeker” features solid performances by Donald Sutherland and Helen Mirren wasted on a mediocre story and a predictable plotline. Italian director Paolo Virzi, in his first English language film, presided over this tale of an elderly couple on their last road trip. The ending was especially less than satisfying, from the screenplay penned by Virzi, Francesca Archibugi, Francesco Piccolo, and Stephen Amidon. Could this a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth?

The cast includes Helen Mirren, Donald Sutherland, Dana Ivey, Dick Gregory, Christian McKay, Janel Moloney, Robert Pralgo, Kirsty Mitchell, and Mylie Stone. The disappointing “The Leisure Seeker” was a box office bomb at art house cinemas for Indiana Production Company, Rai Cinema, and BAC Films. It was filmed in Georgia and Florida.
