“The Maltese Falcon” is the story of a private detective who has several clients who all seem to be interested in the same thing: A priceless, jewel-encrusted statuette of a falcon. First-time director John Huston did an excellent job of creating what many consider to be one of the best films of all time. He used storyboards to shoot the film quickly, good writing, talented actors, and faithful adaptation of the 1930 novel of the same name by Dashiell Hammett. John Huston penned the excellent screenplay.
Humphrey Bogart played the private eye Sam Spade with co-stars Mary Astor, Peter Lorre, Barton MacLane, Sydney Greenstreet, Ward Bond, Elisha Cook Jr., Lee Patrick, Gladys George, Jerome Cowan, Walter Huston, William Hopper, and John Hamilton as the District Attorney. “The Maltese Falcon” was a big hit at the box office for producer Hal B. Wallis and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed at the Warner Bros. studios and backlot in Burbank.
