My Review

“The Matrix Resurrections” is the fourth in the Matrix franchise featuring Keanu Reeves returning as Neo/Thomas Anderson getting into new problems in an altered Matrix. Director Lana Wachowski, who also co-wrote the screenplay with David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon, endeavored to put together an exciting picture in the tradition of the originals, but failed on most counts. Fans of the Matrix franchise may enjoy this one, but will likely win few new devotees.

The unwatchable “The Matrix Resurrections” was a box office bomb for Village Roadshow Pictures, Venus Castina Productions, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed in San Francisco and Berlin. The cast includes Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, Neil Patrick Harris, Jada Pinkett Smith, Telma Hopkins, and Christina Ricci. Previous films include “The Matrix” (1999), “The Matrix Reloaded” (2003), and “The Matrix Revolutions” (2003).
