My Review

“The Old Barn Dance” tells the story of Gene Autry’s small horse trading business being threatened by a large tractor company. The drama and singing proceeds from there, well directed by Joseph Kane and written by Bernard McConville and Charles F. Royal. It was filmed in Lone Pine, Kernville, and Red Rock Canyon Park, Cantil, California.

The Singing Cowboy’s co-stars include Smiley Burnette, Earl Dwire, Joan Valerie, Sammy McKim, Carlton Young, and Earle Hodgins. There were musical number from Walt Shrum and His Colorado Hillbillies, Jo Stafford and the Safford Sisters, the Maple City Four, and Roy Rogers. The watchable “The Old Barn Dance” was popular in theatrical release for Sol C. Siegel and Republic Pictures.
