The Pajama Game (1957)

My Review

“The Pajama Game” is a musical romantic-comedy centered around workers in a factory which produces pajamas and some romantic activities. Directors George Abbott and Stanley Donen kept the film faithful to the 1954 stage play (by Richard Bissel and Abbott, who also penned the screenplay) and the 1953 novel “7 1/2 Cents” by Bissell. The words and music were written by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, with choreography by Bob Fosse.

The cast includes Doris Day, Reta Shaw, Eddie Foy Jr., Barbara Nichols, Carol Haney, Ralph Dunn, Owen Martin, and John Raitt, father of singer Bonnie Raitt. “The Pajama Game” was a modest hit at the box office for Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed almost entirely at Warner Bros. studios and soundstages in Burbank.
