My Review

“The Strange Woman” is a B-movie melodrama thriller film about a sociopathic woman reeking havoc in the lives of those around her. She is completely out of control due to childhood abuse she experienced from her father. Director Edgar G. Ulmer (“Isle of Forgotten Sins” 1943) tightly directed the twists and turns of this film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Hunt Stromberg.

Hedy Lamarr has top billing in the title role of Jenny Hager; she delivers a stunning performance from her wide acting range. Co-stars include George Sanders, Louis Hayward, Gene Lockhart, Hillary Brooke, Moroni Olsen, Rhys Williams, June Storey, Alan Napier, and Kathleen Lockhart. “The Strange Woman” was a hit at the box office for producer Hedy Lamarr, Hunt Stromberg Productions, Mars Film Corporation, and United Artists.
