My Review

“The War with Grandpa” is a family comedy film where a young boy wages a prank war to reclaim his bedroom after his widowed grandfather moves in. The result is a high-stakes battle of wits and the resulting comedy well directed by Tim Hill (“Muppets from Space” 1999) from a satisfactory but formulaic screenplay by Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember.

Stars Robert De Niro and Oakes Fegley demonstate good chemistry as the grandpa and grandson in the middle of their little war. Co-stars include Uma Thurman and Rob Riggle as the boy’s parents, Laura Marano as his sister, Colin Ford as her boyfriend, and Jane Seymour, Christopher Walken, and Cheech Marin as De Niro’s friends. The watchable “The War with Grandpa” was a modest hit at the box office for Ingenious Media, EFO, Marro Films, Sigh Films, The Fyzz Facility, West Madison Entertainment, Tri-G Films, 101 Studios, and Brookdale Studios. It was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, especially at the Tyler Perry Studios.
