The Wizard of Lies (2017)

My Review

“The Wizard of Lies” is a made-for-television biopic film about the 2008 Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme which cheated some 40,000 people of billions of dollars of their hard-earned money. Director Barry Levinson (“Rain Man” 1988) put together this riveting drama from a screenplay by Sam Levinson, Sam Baum, and John Burnham Schwartz. It was adapted from the 2011 non-fiction book of the same name by Diana B. Henriques.

The cast includes Robert Di Niro as Madoff, Michelle Pfeiffer as Ruth Madoff, Hank Azaria, Alessandro Nivola, Katherine Narducci, Kelly AuCoin, Amanda Warren, Kristen Connolly, Michael Kostroff, and Nathan Darrow. The watchable “The Wizard of Lies” was aired on May 20, 2027, on HBO, a production of HBO Films. It was filmed in New York City and Long Island, New York.
