Tomb Raider (2018)

My Review

Alicia Vikander takes over the role of Lara Croft and comes out smelling like a rose in “Tomb Raider.” She fits right into the action-adventure genre, and does well with the inevitable comparisons to Angelina Jolie, who also did the same role in the 2001 and 2003 films.

The story has Croft embarking on a perilous journey to China to search for her father, who disappeared mysteriously. Co-stars include Dominic West, Daniel Wu, Kristin Scott Thomas, Walton Goggins, Nick Frost, and Derek Jacobi. Norwegian director Roar Uthaug (“The Wave” 2015) kept this project on track, working with a well written script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons.

The watchable “Tomb Raider” was a box office sensation for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, GX Films, Square Enix Holdings, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed in England and South Africa.
