Valarian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)

My Review

“Valarian and the City of a Thousand Planets” is the story of two 28th Century policemen in charge of protecting the city of Alpha, a huge metropolis housing thousands of alien species. They uncover a military coverup, while trying to help save an endangered race. Director-screenwriter Luc Besson filmed the picture in English with outstanding production values, especially the lavish special effects which are fully on display in 3-D. The cinematography by Thierry Arbogast is simply out of this world. It is based on the French comic book series “Valarian and Laureline” by writer Pierre Chrsitin and illustrator Jean-Claude Mezieres.

The cast is headed by Dane DeHaan and Cara Delavingne, with co-stars Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, Herbie Hancock, Rutger Hauer, John Goodman, Elizabeth Debicki, and Kris Wu. The watchable “Valarian and the City of a Thousand Planets” was a flop at the box office for producer Virginie Besson-Silla, EuropaCorp, Fundamental Films, Orange Studio, Universum Film, River Road Entertainment. It was filmed in Paris, France.
