Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016)

My Review

“Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” is journalist Kim Barker’s story of reporting from the front lines in the war in Afghanistan. She went from a script writer to on-air personality in no time, interviewing soldiers who share their battle experiences with television viewers back in America. Tina Fey portrayed Barker in this surprising dramatic role, something different for her than the usual comedic romps.

Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (“Focus” 2015) and screenwriter Robert Carlock have an interesting film which was a flop at the box office for producers Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels and Paramount Pictures. It had stiff competition from “Zootopia” and “London Has Fallen.” Filming took place in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Co-stars include Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Alfred Molina, Billy Bob Thornton, Cherry Jones, and Sterling K. Brown.
