My Review

“Why Did I Get Married?” is a comedy drama film about four couples who convene at a Colorado cabin for their annual reunion. This year, problems rise to the surface when there is exposure of infidelity, buried resentments, and examination of reasons for their marital commitments in the first place. Director-screenwriter Tyler Perry (“Madea’s Family Reunion” 2006) did an excellent job of mixing humor, drama, and even advise and insight from Bible sources.

The cast includes Tyler Perry, Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Malik Yoba, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker, Sharon Leal, Tasha Smith, Denise Boutte, and Keesha Sharp. The watchable “Why Did I Get Married?” was a hit at the box office for producer Tyler Perry, Tyler Perry Studios, Reuben Cannon Productions, and Lionsgate Films. It was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, and Vancouver, British Columbia. A sequel called “Why Did I Get Married Too?” starring Perry, Jackson, and the original cast was released in 2010.
